Hi Dennis,
I do remember cool money boxes from St George. And the State Bank. There's the problem with the banking system, they should have used their own savings system. People can only have loans once they've filled up 100 funky money boxes :)

The snake chased you? This one hardly moved. He was a very happy snake. I think he probably has just eaten a few mice or something

Glenn,
this photo is bloody fantastic! Sends shivers down my spine and reminds me of being chased down a hill by one of these things in Canberra when I was about 7. Luckily there were 3 of us and the snake went after Rowan who was the fastest of all of us and managed to get away...

Hi David.
It does matter if it rains in Leeton because:
1. There have been water restrictions for quite some time. Most lawns and gardens were dead or dying at the time of taking this photo.
2. The water used for irrigation was in danger of running out. The irrigation water comes from the snow mountain scheme ( and other places ). And that water was in short supply.
3. I'm currently in the UK, and the extent of the drought has been reported here and in the US. Saying that food production is stunted in 2007 due to lack of water.
I've got a pretty good idea what I'm talking about because I have family members who are irrigators, and I worked for what was called the Dept of Land and Water Conservation for a time.
The picture was actually photoshopped. It's a moch flood picture of an area of Palm Ave, roughly No 88 Palm Ave I believe.
Thanks for your comments though, I appreciate it. But how did you find the site?

i live in leeton and its a town that relies on irrigation.. it truley does not matter if it dosnt rain.. all parks, farms and drinking water is irrigated from the murrumbidgee.. its been built in a semi arid desert so no rain was expected.. anyway that pic is of a oval.. wich funnily enough acts as a retarding basin for new housing estates around it.. just thought id let you know..
